Jungle Descriptions

This week we wrote setting descriptions. Miss Fisher gave us a picture of a jungle which we then had to describe. Have a read of some of our incredible descriptions!
Can you spot some examples of adjectives, similes and personification?

Caitlin
In the jungle prickly vines are strangling tall, majestic trees. Beautiful, colourful butterflies are flying gracefully like a ballerina. Gorillas are banging their bulky, dark chests. Trees are talking like humans and creating a green leafy sky. In the dark spoooooky jungle a lion is creeping like a sneaky creepy crawly. Colourful parrots are flying gracefully like a black and white pigeon in the green, leafy sky. I feel mud slithering down my legs like an awful, dreadful snake. The jungle is a really freaky place. Hyper monkeys are calling sweetly, "there is danger around us!" Down in the jungle an elephant is honking his thick skinned trunk like a trombone. Leaves are falling down in showers. The jungle is a wonderful place.

In the jungle I see vines swishing through the trees like a bird. Creeping through the bushes is a large gorilla banging his bulky chest. Drifting from the sky are little raindrops dancing like ballerinas. Towering trees are blotting out the sun with a sky of leaves blowing everywhere. On the floor is spongy moss tickling my feet like sand. Fluttering through the woods are swooping bats looking for their food. The wind is plunging fast into the air like a sticky magnet. Monkeys are tugging my hair like an anchor being pulled from a ship. Exquisite leaves are dancing in the rain as they whisper secrets to each other. Birds are chirping sweet songs. Tufting leaves are stacked in piles of ten like a flower pot. The jungle is a majestic place.

I see gorillas banging their bulky, dark brown chests. I hear tigers roaring loudly like a trumpet. I hear leaves crunching and falling down from the high trees. I feel moss under my bare feet.  The moss feels like a soft, furry tail. I hear the gentle breeze drifting through the sky like a baby moth with baby wings. I can taste the cool raindrops on my tongue when it rains. I hear birds chirping a sweet song that drifts through the jungle like a beautiful bubble. The jungle is a magical place.
