We have been learning how to write a letter. Last week we wrote some wonderful letters to Joy Cowley. Yesterday we put them all in an envelope with some stamps and sent them off. We can't wait to see if she will reply!

Super Sentences

Room 14 have been learning to write super sentences. They were given some boring sentences which they then had to turn into super sentences. They weren't allowed to use the key word from the given sentence but instead had to paint a picture in the readers mind using powerful adjectives and language features - they had to think about what it would look like, feel like and sound like. They did a super job!

Rugby Super Sweepstakes

In spirit of the rugby world cup we are having a bit of a class competition. We each drew a country out of a hat and the winner will get a special rugby prize pack!
We are busy researching our chosen country and creating pic collages in support of that country.

Friendship Problems

Room 14 have been looking at what it means to be a good friend and a caring class member.
Last week fast finishers were given some friendship problem scenarios in which they had to think of positive ways to respond. They presented these using puppet pals. Here are a few for you to watch. Can you think of any other ways these problems could have been solved?

Room 14 looked fantastic today dressed in black and white in support of the All Blacks... and Ronak looked fantastic dressed in his orange in support of Fiji.

Room 14 will be following the world cup and keeping track of all game scores on our world cup score board!

Rugby World Cup Supporters Day

Just a reminder that tomorrow is the Rugby World Cup supporters day.  Students can come to school dressed in the national colours of the team they are supporting. This is not a fundraiser so no gold coin donation is required.

Animal Diaries

Yesterday the Polkadots read Cat's Diary. They then choose an animal and wrote their own diary entry. They did a wonderful job writing from the perspective of their chosen animal.

Shimbir

On Monday the swirls read the reader Shimbir. Here is their describe map and description of a shimbir.


We are describing a Shimbir. A Shimbir is a type of bird. It has a blue head, yellow beak, white body and yellow wings. It is very beautiful. The Shimbir makes people happy because it has a beautiful voice and sings wonderful songs. The shimbir sings every morning and every evening. The Shimbir lives in trees and eats red berries. The Shimbir is important because it is a beautiful bird with a lovely song that brings happiness to lots of people.

Import means to bring products into our country and export means to send a product to another country to be sold.  We have been identifying different products that New Zealand imports.
