Different Villages

The swirls read a text about different villages around the world.  They then compared villages far from the sea with villages in the mountains. Here is their compare and contrast map and summary...

We are comparing a village far from the sea with a village in the mountains. A village far from the sea is very hot. They grow cotton to sell at the markets. Houses in villages far from the sea are made from mud and straw. Men live in rectangular houses and women live in circular houses. People in these villages sleep on mats. Villages high in the mountains are very cold. To get to villages in the mountains you need to walk or ride a horse. The houses are built into the sides of the mountain. Yaks, sheep and goats are very important to the people in the mountains because they give them milk. Although these villages are in different parts of the world with different people, different temperatures and different ways of living there are also some similarities.People live in both these places. Old people are very important to these villages because they have lots of knowledge to share. People in both these villages live close together and share with each other. Villages are important to the people that live there because they rely on each other for food and resources. Different villages are suited to the areas that they are in.

Views On The News

The swirls read the reader Views on the News. They evaluated the statement "Chihuahuas are like other dogs"...

We both agree and disagree with the statement that Chihuahuas are like other dogs.  Here are our reasons why we agree. Like other dogs Chihuahuas have hair to keep them warm.  They can sniff with their noses just like other dogs do. Chihuahuas have legs to run and play they lift their leg to go to the toilet. Chihuahuas also like to explore new places.  Chihuahuas are not like other dogs because they like having their hair done. Chihuahuas like to dress up and they don’t make a fuss.  Chihuahuas don’t like chasing cats but they like going out in handbags. Chihuahuas don’t like rolling in mud. They like wearing dresses and looking pretty.  Although Chihuahuas are in the dog family there are lots of ways in which they are different. They are smaller than most dogs and behave differently. However there are other dogs like poodles and papillions that are small and also behave differently to most dogs but are still part of the dog family.

We are at relational because we explained our ideas.

Space Cat

The Stripes used a compare and contrast map to compare two of the characters from their reader...

We are comparing the characters Meep and Ginge. Ginge is a cat with a long tongue. Ginge is gold and orange with fluffy orange stripes. Ginge is greedy.  Meep is a small space cat who is green and has black eyes.  He wears a beeper to help him talk.  Meep’s whiskers glow. Everyone loves Meep.  Although there are differences between Meep and Ginge there are also some similarities. Both Meep and Ginge are cats and they’re both very clever.  They both have whiskers and they both like fish.

We are at multi-structural because we have lots of ideas.

Slidy Jr

Look at this awesome robot Zayden made!
We decided to call him Slidy Junior...
